The Pink Hat

Its not the pink hat,
nor the warm pat

nor the furry mat,

but the golden heart.

Oh Yes! The golden heart,

which reflected so

from the hearty cheers

and the love shared.

The Joy of Motherhood

( Dedicated to the two most wonderful people, Papiyo and Mamo, that I love and have come to respect so dearly…love you loads mum and dad!!! )

Oh! What great joy,
the joy of motherhood.
Oh! What great joy.

As I bask in the euphoria
of motherhood, I remember
a mother who laboured
night and day for me.
I remember a father
who stood by her
all those long sleepless years.

I sit and think
of all the years they
watched me grow and blossom
from infanthood to motherhood
loving me through the thick and thin
OH! How I bless their gentle souls
for what great treasure they are to me.

Oh! Behold motherhood
a land for all,
but for the few
so unique in its magnificent glory
so daunting in its radiant beauty
Oh! What great joy it brings,
to be called a mother.

Beyond What Lies Beneath

Beneath my pretty face
lies a battered fate
Beneath those lovely smiles
Lies a crooked mile
Bound by a twisted tale
Of many years untold

Beyond this pretty face
The smiles and gracious steps
Lies an aching heart and
A very troubled soul
Borne from deep issues
Rooted deep within my soul

Beneath the pretty face
Lies a bundle of issues
Issues too personal
To discuss with a stranger,
Yet too difficult to explain
Even to the closest of friends

Beyond my pretty face
Are issues minute but huge
Which often storm through my life
Leaving big scars and forcing
Even worthy ambitions
To go into hiding

But beyond and beneath
The many issues that may be
I’ve learned to stand tall
And not to fall.
For I know that
Victory lies beneath
